Botanical Garden seeks volunteers

The Fountain Hills Desert Botanical Garden is looking for volunteers to join its cause to keep the trail in good condition for all to use.

The summer heat affects the local plants, trees and shrubs with many Saguaro cacti snapping off and agaves dying from their centers, requiring stewardship from the community to keep the trail accessible to all.

The next meeting is on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 10 a.m. in the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce, 16837 E. Palisades Blvd. All are invited to attend.

Men’s Discussion Group convenes

The Fountain Hills Men’s Discussion Group meets every Monday (except holidays) from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Community Center.

On Monday, Nov. 20, the town’s Chief Technology Administrator Mike Ciccarone will discuss Fountain Hills cyber security.

There is no cost to attend these meetings but Community Center membership is required.

American Legion Post 58 hosts weekly events

American Legion Post 58 hosts weekly events that are open to the public, including Bingo every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The community is invited to attend. On Friday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m., Music Reflections Band will play and on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m., Karaoke with Kim and Deb will begin.

Events are held at the American Legion Post 58, 16837 E. Parkview Ave.

Community Center Contract Bridge winners posted

Contract bridge is played every Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Community Center. Membership in the Community Center is required to participate.

Winners from Nov. 3 include Ron Bredemann in first place, Gerd Brinkman in second place and Norma Klein in third place. Winners from Nov. 8 include Ron Bredemann in first place, Norma Klein in second place and Doug Stewart in third place.

Fountain Hills Rotary Club hosts speaker

The Fountain Hills Rotary Club will host Mike Ciccarone, chief technology administrator for the Town of Fountain Hills. Ciccarone will discuss “How to Stay Safe in Cyberspace,” on Tuesday, Nov. 21., at 4 p.m.

Held at the American Legion Post 58, 16837 E. Parkview Ave., the Fountain Hills Rotary Club meets every first and third Tuesday of the month.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly welcomes newcomers

Anyone looking for weight-loss support and to start or continue their journey of weight-loss is invited to join TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Fountain Hills chapter every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Chapter meetings are held at Joy Church, 13430 N. Saguaro Blvd. Use the front entrance of the church and follow the signs.

Al-Anon holds regular meetings

Al-Anon family meetings are held each Saturday from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in the classroom building.

The only requirement to attend is that there be a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend. Attendees will find hope as members share their experiences, strength and hope.

Shepherd of the Hills is located at 16150 E. El Lago Blvd.
