There were no injuries, but a lot of stunned onlookers as a car careened through the median after colliding with a second vehicle on Saguaro Boulevard just north of Shea Boulevard on Monday, Feb. 9, just before noon.
Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reported a driver making a left turn from Trevino Drive onto northbound Saguaro collided with a second car headed north.
After the collision the driver making the turn lost control and crossed over the median and back taking out a construction sign and damaging a large saguaro cactus in the median.
The vehicles were pulled to the side north of the construction zone while firefighters evaluated patients and deputies investigated.
Town officials said the saguaro will be relocated as part of the ongoing construction project.
