Collision on Shea Boulevard ties up traffic

Believed driver suffered medical issue

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported collision at the intersection of Shea and Fountain Hills boulevards about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19.

According to Sheriff’s Capt. Larry Kratzer, commander for the Sheriff’s District 7 based in Fountain Hills, a motorist drove through the intersection against a red light and struck the raised median at the entrance to FireRock Country Club. Kratzer said no other vehicles were involved in the collision.

“Deputies arrived on scene and began CPR on the driver due to what appeared to be a medical emergency,” Kratzer said in an email to The Times Independent.
