I know, I know, the lagoon study was a bad decision, but I will not let this one mistake cloud my judgement on the property tax. Believe me, I hated the money spent on the lagoon project, but I won’t let it get in the way of common sense and my vote in favor of the property tax.
What about bonds? Bonds, you say, are the answer! However, bonds can be used only for new construction and not for maintenance. They cannot be used to maintain our roads or for fire and police protection. Clearly bonds are not the answer. What, then, are you offering as an equitable solution?
For the most part, the town council has been fiscally responsible. They have studied all the alternatives and unanimously concluded a property tax is the best solution for our town’s financial needs. Let’s use common sense and vote yes for the property tax.
