On Sunday, Dec. 14, the 50-piece Fountain Hills Community Band will present its second concert of the 2014-15 season.

It will be held at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church on Fountain Hills Blvd. at 3:30 in the afternoon; open to the public; admission is free.

The program to be presented will be a repeat performance of the band’s very successful first concert of a week ago.

It will consist of wonderful celebratory music fitting the holiday season including works from classical era composers J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel, and W.A Mozart.

In addition, two engaging serious holiday season type contemporary arrangements scored by the bandʼs conductor/composer/arranger Ed Madden will be performed. Other pieces will also be played, which are from the popular lighter side of traditional Christmas music.

A tradition began for these seasonal concerts to engage the audience in the singing of Christmas carols at the end of the formal part of the program.

This year the bandʼs announced encore after the carols will be an exciting finale as it will perform an unusually stunning instrumental version of the famous “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handelʼs “The Messiah.”
