Community Garden comes long way in three years

The Community Garden will mark the third year of its formation with a ribbon-cutting for a “Farm to Table Education Area” at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, March 24.
Directly following the ceremony, a chef demonstration will be held.
A grant from Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation helped lead to the completion of the demonstration area.
The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., will feature tours, music, vendors and raffles.
About 300 flowering, vegetable plants representing 30 varieties and herbs will be sold.
Visitors can learn about vermiculture (worm composting) during sessions beginning at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Volunteer Michele McGuinness, kid’s coordinator, will lead the sessions.
Anyone bringing an empty cardboard shoebox can take home some worms.
The Community Garden is supported by The Fountain Hills Cultural and Civic Association.
