The Fountain Hills Community Garden is slated to be open on Jan. 1, and every week progress is being made toward that goal.

Bart Shea, with N-Shea Construction, has completed the trenching for the irrigation. Sprinkler World delivered the irrigation supplies, courtesy of Morningstar, to Verde Nursery which is installing the system. EPCOR Water is set to deliver the water meter as soon as needed.

The redwood lumber for the bed construction has been ordered and is set for delivery. Volunteers were assembling garden beds on Saturday, Dec. 3. Mike Miller from Huds Flooring has offered his time, talents, and equipment to help the FHCG volunteers assemble most of the garden beds.

Saturday, Dec. 10, volunteers will work with the Girl Scout troop to assemble the five demonstration beds that will be used in the garden.

Community Garden beds are available for rent, but interested parties are encouraged to act soon, as half of the beds available in Phase I have been rented. Find details and sign up to rent a bed online at fhcultural-civic.org/bedrental.

Beds are completely turn-key, loaded with dirt and ready to plant. Cost of $250 includes one-year bed rental (starts when Garden opens), one Garden membership and the annual membership to the Fountain hills Cultural & Civic Association, the sponsoring 501(c)3 organization of the garden. Co-rentals are encouraged.

Those who don’t want to work the fields but want to be involved in this project can become a garden member for $10 a year. This membership offers garden classes where atendees can learn from master gardeners, and gives access to the community garden bed in the garden.
