OPINION — I suspect I am not the only resident who is looking forward to Sprouts opening. For me, the convenience alone makes the inconvenience of the building process all worthwhile. In addition, the sales tax revenue that will be generated will be a boon to our town’s economy.
And to think that it might not have happened! We must give credit to those who had the foresight to approve the Sandor Development and their tenacity to see it through against strong opposition. Thanks to former Mayor Ginny Dickey, Council Members Peggy McMahon, Brenda Kalivianakis and former member Sharon Gryzsbowski for voting in favor of the development. Kudos as well to Economic Development Director Amanda Jacobs for putting all the pieces together to bring Sprouts to Fountain Hills. This would not have happened if Sandor had not received the green light for their development.
Not only did current Mayor Friedel vote against the development, but he also supported the town not defending itself against the ROT PAC’s lawsuit against Mayor Dickey, the council members who voted in favor of it as well as the town clerk. Imagine being on a town council and throwing your fellow council members and town clerk under the bus!
