Concerning Fountain Hills meeting, check the tape

OPINION – It has been less than a week since Mayor Friedel ordered MCSO Deputies to evict Fountain Hills residents from the Town Council chambers. The legality of that order and the subsequent order to close the chambers to the public at large will be determined by the Attorney General and the courts if, as anticipated, litigation results.

Of more immediate concern are the inflammatory misrepresentations of the evening’s events in recent opinions published here. In one recent letter, the writer described her speaking experience as a “trial by fire” due to the “screaming aggressive crowd acting to intimidate anyone who dared to speak.”

This harrowing description is not supported by the video record (11/18/25 Meeting video @ 3:48:26). During the writer’s presentation only two residents were in the audience, she spoke without interruption and laughed and waved when she was done.
