Additional helicopters, reserved sections for racing and genuine Shelby cars and a drawing for a champagne helicopter flight to the Grand Canyon for early registrants are new features for the sixth annual Concours in the Hills, said event founder and organizer Peter Volny.
Show hours will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, in Fountain Park. Feb. 16 is the rain date.
The event showcases a diverse range of ultra-high performance, luxury and classic vehicles from imported and domestic manufacturers.
Plans for this year’s edition are “coming along well,” said Volny. Last year 749 cars, a Cobra and a Viper attack helicopter and 78 dealers/vendors participated.
The event raised more than $117,000 for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. It will be the charity partner again for 2019.
Scuderia Southwest, the sponsoring organization, is committed to raising $500,000 to build a playroom in the oncology department.
Car owners can register online at Givetopchf.org/concoursinthehills.
Volny said an “early bird drawing” for car owners who register before Dec. 31 will be held for a champagne flight for two with Maverick Helicopters of Las Vegas into the Grand Canyon. The prize is valued at more than $1,000.
The cost to register a vehicle is a minimum of $60, all of which goes to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
Spectator admission and parking is free.
The Concours is supported by the leading car clubs of Arizona representing Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, McLaren, Maserati, Jaguar, Corvette, Viper, Ford GT, Lotus, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Alfa Romeo, DeTomaso, DeLorean, Mustang, Cadillac and others.
Volny said the exhibition area will be expanded to provide more room between the cars, more food trucks and port-a-potties. The number of local sponsors also has expanded to include The Finishing Touch, Spacefit, American Family Insurance, Discount Tire, Park Place, Raymond James and That’s My Wheels.
Automobile owners and sponsors who are interested in participating can contact Volny at
