We’d like to extend our congratulations to Representative David Schweikert for his recently earned seat on the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee. Along with representing our state, Schweikert and wife Joyce represent the local community as Fountain Hills residents.

Schweikert’s new position was made official last week, alongside fellow newcomers to the Committee, Jackie Walorski (R-IN) and Carlos Curbelo (R-FL).

In his new position, Schweikert will have a lot of extra work piled in front of him working for a committee with jurisdiction over the areas of Medicare, taxes and Social Security, as well as trade and tariff legislation. Those are some big, controversial areas to weed through, but we have confidence that Schweikert is the right guy for the job.

First elected in 2010, Schweikert has worked as an Arizona Representative for six years. Reelection and being named to a prestigious seat on Ways and Means goes a long way to show that your efforts are not only noticed, but seen as moving the country in a positive direction.

Good luck on this next leg of your journey, Schweikert. We’re rooting for you.
