Work will resume on a safety improvement project on State Route 87 north of Sunflower this week and the Arizona Department of Transportation is urging motorists to allow extra travel time.
This phase of work will require drivers to be stopped on northbound SR 87 (mileposts 222-228) through the work zone on Tuesday, Jan. 20 from 6 a.m. through Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 5 p.m. Southbound SR 87 will be restricted to one lane as it will become a two-lane roadway and drivers will be guided through the work zone with the aid of a pilot car. Delays of up to 30 minutes are possible.
In addition, beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 5 p.m. through Friday, Jan. 23 at 5 p.m. drivers will be restricted to one lane in each direction through the work zone for drainage improvements. Minimal delays expected.

ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
