The hot days are already here, but Fountain Hills Theater has a plan for students to keep cool.

The annual summer camp program gets underway in June, and registration is taking place now.

There are five sessions offered for students ages 7 to 14.

Fountain Hills Theater’s Youth Artistic Director Ross Collins will offer two sessions in “Acting Skills and Audition Technique.” Each session is $275. Session 1 is June 4-15, with Session 2 set for June 18-29. Camp times are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday of those weeks.

Collins will offer an original script, “The Secret of Turning Gate Manor,” as his tool to teach comedy and acting skills while honing audition techniques. A performance will be held the last day of each session.

Sessions 3, 4 and 5 will be led by Jennifer Whiting, a piano and voice teacher, singer, director, accompanist and a multi-award-winning music director. She is a music theater instructor at an east valley charter school.

Session 3 is set for July 9-13 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. “Let’s Go to the (Broadway) Hop!” will give students a change to sing, dance, bop, while learning singing, acting and dancing technique. A performance will be featured the last day of the session.

Session 4, “Broadway, Broadway!” is set for July 16-20 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Whiting will teach singing, dancing and acting with songs from some of Broadway’s most popular and best-known shows.

Session 5, “The Land of Oz” will be held from July 23-27, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Participants will learn choreography and play games and participate in singing, dancing and acting techniques.

Sessions 3-5 are $250 per week.

Classes will be held at Fountain Hills Theater, 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd. For more information or to register, call 480-837-9661, ext. 3. Online registration also is available at fhtaz.org.

Students are asked to bring a sack lunch each day they are at camp.
