The Town Council has approved amendments to its development agreement with Americana Development and Building Company to allow the developer more time to get the proposed Copper Ridge assisted living project off the ground.
Delays have already caused Americana to miss the original start date for the project. They are currently within the timeframe of an administrative extension.
The amendments to the agreement include the start date as well as other aspects of the project. The time required to allow acquisition of the property has been extended from 230 to 450 days.

The agreement allows for adjustment of the phasing depending on market conditions.
There are also changes to language regarding the applicant’s ability to transfer ownership of the property and project approvals.
Copper Ridge is a proposed senior independent and assisted living center with phase one to include a four-story, 133,000 square-foot residential structure with 132 individual units. It also includes a 19,000 square-foot community clubhouse building.
Phase two is the two-story, 80,000 square-foot care unit with 60 assisted living units and 52 memory care/physical rehabilitation beds.
Additional phases include commercial retail at La Montana Drive and Avenue of the Fountains and a 30,000 square-foot, two story commercial structure for medical and professional offices on Palisades Boulevard at Westby Drive.
The proposed development would sit on 12.24 acres situated along Avenue of the Fountains from La Montana Drive to Westby Drive and along Westby between Avenue of the Fountains and Palisades Boulevard.
