As a Democrat watching and listening to the news it is obvious things could be going better.
Typical of Washington politics, hyperbole has taken over as words like scandal, Watergate, cover-up, conspiracy, jail time, impeachment, play to people’s emotions.

I have yet to determine when “exaggeration” becomes a political sin as that is such an accepted practice inside the beltway. Which is worse, an error or a mistake and how do they evolve to the level of cover-up? Congress needs to publish a Dictionary of Detestable Words along with appropriate lay people definitions.
Looking at specifics, as far as I can tell The Benghazi Affair has turned into a tempest in a teapot. If “talking points” were routinely investigated as to their accuracy we would certainly see a drop in the unemployment rate. A person has to love the theatrics of it all as Republicans make such clarifying statements as: “An act of terror is different than a terrorist attack.”
Regarding the IRS fiasco, blame must be assigned and corrective action taken. On a personal note I place some of the fault at Karl Rove’s feet since he designed the template for others to follow as he described “how to” obtain tax exempt status. Does anyone really believe his Super Pac is “primarily” engaged in doing public good and not mostly partisan politics? “It’s cheating but it’s legal cheating!” says Karl.
Though people are breathlessly waiting to hear what I have to say regarding the government’s listening to reporters’ phone calls and reading their e-mails, I’m withholding judgment until more facts are in. I will admit I’m disappointed in Eric Holder’s recusal excuse.
Note: As far as I know members of Congress and their respective staffs are not paid time and a half for attending hearings. For that we taxpayers can be thankful.
