Fountain Hills council approves fill waiver for new home

Plans exceed disturbance limit

The Fountain Hills Town Council has approved a waiver of cut and fill regulations for proposed construction of a new home in the 9000 block of Hummingbird Trail in the Firerock Country Club subdivision.

The owner’s plan is to build a 4,596 square foot under roof single-story home. The lot is 55,889 square feet that drops 60 feet from west to east. The maximum fill needed on the east side of the property is 14 feet, exceeding the 10-foot cut or fill limit in the Subdivision Ordinance.

The staff report from Development Services describes the excess fill as “relatively minor” and visibility is limited. The report also notes that the landscape plan for the home allows for softening of the impact of the exposed stucco wall.
