The Town Council approved a special use permit that will allow the installation of a 6,000-gallon propane gas tank at a site on Shea Boulevard east of Saguaro Boulevard.
The tank, being installed by Arizona Propane adjacent to its corporate office on Shea, will be used as a retail dispensing site for LPG.
Council members had questions regarding safety, but were satisfied with information provided by Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Marshal Dave Ott that the site would be safe if operated under standard guidelines.

The 12-foot spherical tank will be placed behind an eight-foot high wall for security and containment. It will be painted to match the adjoining office complex.
The council vote was 6-0 to approve the permit. Councilman Cecil Yates was absent.
