The Town Council has told staff which concept in wayfinding signs it wants to pursue, but it was also clear that no more money will be spent on the project at this time, or in the next fiscal year.

The council motion at its June 5 meeting approved a design for the signs, which has already been contracted.

Town Manager Grady Miller said the council had previously approved a design contract that the town must pay for whether the project goes forward or not.

Miller said the current plan is to put off the project for another year. It is to be done in two phases with directional signs completed first and gateway monument signs in the second year.

The manufacture and installation phase of the project will be back for council approval before going forward. The cost of each phase is estimated at $150,000 or a total of $300,000.

The project in two phases spread over two years was always the plan.

The council agreed that the proposed concept B, which includes offset directional signs using two panels. The gateway signs are also two panels offset with a vertical presence.

The plan calls for 41 directional signs and four gateway signs, three retrofit and one new location.

Hunt Design of Pasadena, Calif. has the contract for the project which includes the graphic design, sign verbiage, location and construction documents.

Fabrication and installation will be addressed separately when the budget allows.
