Once again, we have seen our current town council make a cowardly decision by breaking their word and hand-picking their personal favorite to fill the town council seat recently vacated by Cecil Yates. In fact, it was more than just cowardly, it was downright unethical.
They promised us that the selection process would be open and honest, and that the community would have an opportunity to meet and evaluate each of the candidates with an open “question and answer” format before any decisions would be made. But then, without any public discussion, they decide to do it all in private, presumably because the voters aren’t smart enough to have any input. After all, the council knows what’s best for us, right?
Sadly, isn’t that exactly what we’ve come to expect from our town council? But there is some good news: The current council has come to an end and we will have new leadership very soon. December can’t come quick enough for me!
