Fountain Hills Town Council to consider termination of MMPC

Meeting Wednesday, Feb. 21

The Town Council will consider a resolution and ordinance amendment that would have the effect of terminating the McDowell Mountain Preservation Commission (MMPC).

This group has for many years guided the activities and development of the Fountain Hills McDowell Mountain Preserve. According to the staff report prepared for the meeting,  it is believed that at present all goals established for the MMPC have been accomplished. The commission itself voted unanimously to recommend the group be terminated under the sunset provision of the ordinance. Termination was discussed over several meetings by the commission.

The Community Services Department will continue to work with the volunteer Sonoran Conservancy of Fountain Hills to assist with general operations and maintenance in the Preserve.
