The Town Council will finalize its annual budget for the coming year when it meets on Tuesday, June 5. The budget proposal under consideration will be approximately $32 million.
Seven million dollars was cut from the tentative budget approved in April due to the failure of the primary property tax proposal on the ballot in May.
The budget was prepared based on a flat trend analysis for revenue increases. A modest increase in state shared revenues is anticipated, building permit activity includes Adero Canyon and FireRock development.

There were contract increases for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (10.1 percent) and Rural/Metro (3 percent). These public safety services are budgeted at $8.1 million for the coming year – one quarter of the total budget and roughly half the General Fund budget.
The proposed budget includes $4.1 million in capital projects including design work for Shea Boulevard widening; Fountain Hills Boulevard shoulder paving, sidewalk completion and contingency.
Also budget related the council will consider a resolution to adopt budget implementation policy, town organizational charts, pay schedule, schedule of authorized positions and job descriptions and the comprehensive fee schedule.
The council will also meet as acting board of directors for the Eagle Mountain Community Facilities District and the Cottonwoods Maintenance District. Budgets for those entities will be finalized also.
The council agenda also includes consideration of the PAD request for the proposed Fountain Hills Senior Living facility, which the Planning and Zoning Commission is recommending denial (see separate story). That will include a public hearing.
The council will also consider a request by staff to apply for a Diamondbacks Youth Field building grant for field reconstruction at Four Peaks Park.
There are also a number of year-end agreements to complete 2017/2018 budgeted projects.
The Town Council meets Tuesday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall. The session will begin earlier to accommodate the EMCFD and CWID budget approvals.
