When the Town Council meets this week it has on its agenda a discussion concerning the gate that closes Technology Drive at Saguaro Boulevard.
At the time of construction of the Four Peaks (Target) Plaza, Technology Drive was extended between Laser Drive and Shea Boulevard and Laser was abandoned and removed between Saguaro and Technology to allow for the rear truck access to the shopping center.
Soon after the plaza opened neighbors raised concerns about excess truck traffic and cut-through traffic using Technology to access Shea Boulevard.

Council to talk Technology gate
Posted
When the Town Council meets this week it has on its agenda a discussion concerning the gate that closes Technology Drive at Saguaro Boulevard.
At the time of construction of the Four Peaks (Target) Plaza, Technology Drive was extended between Laser Drive and Shea Boulevard and Laser was abandoned and removed between Saguaro and Technology to allow for the rear truck access to the shopping center.
Soon after the plaza opened neighbors raised concerns about excess truck traffic and cut-through traffic using Technology to access Shea Boulevard.
The item was placed on the agenda asking the council to consider removing the gate to open Technology Drive completely between Saguaro and Shea.
Staff indicates there are concerns raised by street traffic using the access behind the shopping center that should be reserved for commercial loading. There is also extra traffic using an alley between Saguaro and Laser that is not designed for regular traffic loads.
Council Members Art Tolis and Cecil Yates have asked for the council review saying they have been approached by several business owners asking that the restricted access to Technology be removed.
Also on this week’s agenda is the quarterly report from Finance Director Craig Rudolphy.
The state champion girls soccer team from Fountain Hills High School has been invited to the meeting to receive special recognition.
Consent agenda items include approval of $209,000 for installation of a chiller for mechanical system; a contact with SRP in the amount of $68,000 for design and construction to relocate SRP equipment in conjunction with the new construction of Fire Station #2; and approval of an amendment to the town’s IGA with the Regional Public Transportation Authority relating to transit services.
There is also a possible discussion related to HB2363 action by the Arizona State Legislature regarding wireless facilities, collocation and rights of way.
Prior to the regular session scheduled for 6:30 p.m., the council will meet in a closed executive session for discussions with the attorney related to a proposed CopperWynd Development Agreement and a Planned Area Development for zoning related to the project.
The Town Council meets Thursday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
