After making its debut last year, “Cowboy Sunday” is returning to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church Sunday, Aug. 17, at 9 a.m.
Deanna Freund, music director, along with the choir, will be leading the congregation in some old time favorites made popular by Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and The Suns of the Pioneers.

The community is invited to sing such western favorites as “Cool, Clear Water,” “You Are My Sunshine,” “The Yellow Rose of Texas,” “Home On the Range,” “Back in the Saddle Again,” “She’ll Be Comin‘ Round the Mountain,” “Don’t Fence Me In,” “Tumblin‘ Tumbleweeds,” “Happy Trails” and Garth Brooks’ “I’ve Got Friends in Low Places.”
Dawn your bandanas, cowboy hats and boots and let out a “Whoopity-aye-yah” as the church celebrates God and its western heritage.
Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, on the corner of El Lago and Fountain Hills boulevards, is the place. The service begins at 9 a.m. on Aug. 17.
