If you’re a Democrat, Independent or reasonable Republican, this past week or so must have been very alarming to you.
Did you ever think that you would see a President of the United States fire the career, non-partisan, head of the FBI who was investigating him and his administration for ties to Russia? And then, to admit on TV that he did it to put an end to this investigation? This would seem to be clear obstruction of justice. (And keep in mind that this was not the first person he fired who was looking into Russian ties to the Trump administration.)
But it didn’t stop there. The next thing we saw was Trump giddily welcoming the Russians and their state press into the Oval Office while barring our own “free” press from entry. Incredible!

Reagan must be rolling over in his grave.
If you’re alarmed by this turn of events where Trump is rolling back all the things important to our country’s future and appointing people to leadership positions who have previously opposed the very programs they are to lead; if you’re alarmed by the intrusion of Russia into our elections and their very cozy relationship with our President; if you are shocked by Trump’s admiration for authoritarian, strong-armed leaders; his attacks on our justice system, the free press, and our freedoms to protest and speak out; then you might be interested in joining with a new group in town which is seeking to organize and take action to oppose this threat to our Democratic Republic.
Please join the new Fountain Hills Democratic Club at a kick-off happy hour tomorrow evening from 5-7 p.m. at Que Bueno Mexican Restaurant. Anyone is welcome who shares our progressive values and inclusive goals. Let’s meet, talk and share concerns. We are stronger together!
