B.J. Taylor
Once upon a time in a not so distant past
There lived a people so free they thought would always last
The word of liberty spread near and far
Thoughts of freedom brought many from countries afar
They worked, labored tirelessly and saw their dreams come alive
The country grew strong, giving all wondrous paths to survive
As families grew larger, without hunger, plight or needs
The younger grew spoiled, giving way to misdeeds
A new generation who knew little of strife
Grew lazy and wanting, believing they were “owed” a great life
Indoctrination ensued to strip all the young minds
Losing all morals, values, religion, or family that binds
For decades they’re told that the dream is no more
And only the government can even the score
Violent chaos and crime, fueled by envy and greed
Word to the 99 percent to just “take” what you need
From work to entitlement, now far more are takers
Burdened with taxes to pay them, there will soon be no makers
To free others from oppression our military died to save
Then see Americans opt to surrender, their freedoms they just gave
How many military men now turn in their graves
Without freedom and liberty, we are mere government slaves.
It’s up to “we the people” which road we next take
America’s future depends on the decisions we now make!
