Increasingly, our Town Council meetings are being used as a forum for the disgruntled and ill-informed to level unfounded accusations, berate staff and make crude, insulting remarks. The Nov. 19 meeting serves as a prime example.
During the hearing on a rezoning request one commenter bitterly complained that he had spent valuable years of his life “trying to keep this crap out of this town.”
Another resident expressed her outrage that a 25-foot microwave tower was being built in a residential right of way. The speaker, after providing the property owner’s address, revealing that the owner’s husband had “just died” and, implying that, as a result the sale of the property was “going to happen,” lamented the purported loss of the property’s value because “(S)he’s got this industrial piece of microwave emitting equipment on her property.” The speaker went on state her intent to enlist Andrew Campenelli (AntiCellTowerLawyers.com) to “sue the town if there is anything wrong with the application” and concluded by warning: “He is coming at you.”
