Cultural diversity

I was surprised and delighted to attend the recent Chinese Festival of Lanterns.

Thanks to Mayor Kavanagh and the Town Council for supporting an event that promoted cultural diversity. The displays were beautiful at night, and I had fascinating discussions with festival staff about the mythology behind each exhibit.

It’s disappointing to know that some citizens objected to the festival because they couldn’t walk their dogs around the pond for a few days. A small price to pay, in my view, for the chance to learn about a compelling Chinese tradition.
