Dagmar Esbensen

Dagmar Esbensen, 86, a longtime resident of Rio Verde and currently re-siding in Fountain Hills passed peacefully on the morning of Jan. 12.

She was born May 4, 1926 to Viggo and Christina Skov. She attended East High School in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated in 1944.

Dagmar worked for the phone company until she married John Esbensen on March 20, 1948. They eventually came back to West Des Moines, Iowa where they raised their family.

During that time Dag-mar had a dress shop in downtown West Des Moines (Valley Junction) on Elm. They retired to Rio Verde in 1988 and were members of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Fountain Hills.

She is survived by her daughters Vicki Esbensen who lives in Rio Verde, Susan Shafer who resides in Phoenix and her son John Esbensen lives in Wellington, Colo.
