Dale Broekemeier of Fountain Hills died Monday, Dec. 5, 2016 among friends and family.
Dale retired to Fountain Hills in 1988 after retiring from Cargill Inc. Celebration of Life services were held Sunday, Dec. 11, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Fountain Hills.
Dale was born June 16, 1924 in Wisner, Neb. to Fred and Helen (Beerbohm) Broekemeier. He graduated from Wisner High School and then graduated from the University of Nebraska where he was a member of Farm House fraternity.
Dale served twice in the U.S. Air Force. During World War II he flew 35 combat missions in Europe as a B-17 bombardier and navigator, and in 1951–1953 during the Korean conflict he taught bombardier and navigation school as a captain.
Survivors include his wife, Geri of Fountain Hills; son, Terry and his wife, Selma of Chandler; son, Brent and his wife, Cindy of Castle Pines, Colo.; granddaughter, Colby of Castle Pines, and grandsons Matt of Tempe, Ariz. and Taylor of Castle Pines.
A son, Greg Jay, preceded Dale in death at age 8.
