DARE program is back in Fountain Hills

Some parents and grandparents who encountered the DARE program in some way might be surprised to learn it’s still around.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Amber Hampton told the Fountain Hills Unified School District Governing Board that yes, DARE is still around, but also, no, it doesn’t look anything like it did 40 years ago.

The board voted unanimously Aug. 20 to implement a Drug Abuse Resistance Education program with McDowell Mountain Elementary School fifth-graders.
