I can understand that someday Fountain Hills will have the bridge of a primary property tax to adequately maintain things. Yes, our streets are good but could use better maintenance, public service expenses will increase and I was delighted to hear that some of the tax would be used replace the very inefficiently collected Environmental Fee. But my vote is in the mail with a no, and I am sure that the yes people will consider me a bad citizen for voting that way.
The deal-breaker for me was the possible 2 percent per year cumulative increase, which to me is like signing a blank check and saying take what you need whenever you need it. There is no way I am going to sign a blank check and give it to any politician, any time, even if I did help elect them.
