John Kavanagh, your statistical analysis on Linda Kavanagh’s “victory” in her recent election for the mayor of Fountain Hills uses flawed data to arrive at a flawed conclusion. Let’s take another look at the data and the real story.
The population of Fountain Hills residents 18 years of age and older and eligible to vote in 2016 is 22,307. Linda Kavanagh received 3,947 votes for a disgraceful 17.5 percent of all the eligible voters. This tells the truth about an election where there is real voter apathy.
The voters want to bring younger people to our city; i.e. as VisionFH results show. Kavanagh’s two new building projects include a retirement center and a care center for Alzheimer patients; low-paying jobs that will not bring younger people.

Regarding Ginny Dickey’s loss, I chalk that up to poor planning. Her decision to enter the mayoral race so late in the game as a write-in candidate was a poor one. Had Ginny started her campaign in a timelier manner, I actually believe she could have won the race and, yes, become mayor!
John Kavanagh, you are running unchallenged for D23 Senator. I can hardly wait to see what percentage of the total eligible voters actually check the box for you. The last time you did anything memorable was in 2013, when you introduced a House Bill to actually criminalized transgender people for using the bathroom that matches their gender identity. A similar bill was signed into law in North Carolina and has resulted in taking billions and billions of dollars out of their economy.
We, the voters, remember John and Linda Kavanagh. We remember you brought Donald Trump to our town, a man defined by Christianity Today as “the very embodiment of what the Bible calls a fool.” Vote Caputi!
