One of the biggest fears in life is to lose a child. Our family has been afflicted by this nightmare, not once, but twice in 18 months. Our hearts are broken.
We thought there would be nothing that anyone could say or do to ease the pain in our hearts. However, this community came together last Thursday evening and honored our son, Jacob, with the most beautiful candlelight vigil. Our hearts were wrapped with all the love from the hundreds of people who came to remember our son’s beautiful soul.
We are so grateful to our group of friends who coordinated their efforts to make this event take place without flaw. The weather even cooperated with the black clouds clearing over our heads and the winds dying down just as we lit the candles.

Just when our family thought our hearts were filled with love from the people of Fountain Hills, we were again showered with blessings on Christmas Eve. While we were at church, a group of elves came into our house and placed gifts under our tree, many of which did not even include the names of whom they came from.
It would be nearly impossible to individually thank all of the thousands of people who shared their prayers, thoughts, hugs and incredible acts of generosity in the midst of this devastating tragedy for our family.
Please know we are sincerely grateful beyond description for your overwhelming support. You all truly define the spirit of Christmas as evidenced by your selfless giving. We are so proud to be your neighbors and friends, living in this amazing town of Fountain Hills for 25 years.
