Just a few facts to enlighten those who follow politics. In the New York Times article that quoted PEW, Bloomberg and the U.S. Census research where they quote the following facts. It is mythology that you get more conservative as you get older.
First from PEW research who studied the Gen Y demographic, aged 25-39, and the Gen Z demographic, aged 13-24. Both groups are progressive and Democratic over the GOP and conservativism; 59 percent to 33 percent, a 2-to-1 difference progressive over conservative. But 13-24-year-olds are more progressive than 25-39-year-olds. The younger the generation, the more progressive they tend to be. Yet even the Gen Z and Gen X individuals who identify as Conservative or Republican are far more liberal than the older generations.

Research shows that demographics stay very similar to what they were as kids. The Gen Z demographic is three times more likely to be influenced in a political direction than when you are 40 years old or older. So once a generation becomes progressive, they will stay that way for life. For example, during the Reagan years youth became slightly more conservative and they have stayed that way.
So the boomer or older generation gets the majority of their news, political commentary and information from T.V., whereas Generation Z and Generation X get 52 percent of their news, commentary and information from the internet; mostly YouTube. They get only 16 percent of their news, political commentary and information from T.V. That is a 3-to-1 difference in how the generations accumulate and assimilate information. Bad news for Fox News.
Americans are more likely to be conservative and younger Americans are more likely to be progressive.
