Fountain Hills should get a Strategic Planning Advisory Commission (SPAC) that likes Fountain Hills, rather than the current one.

SPAC thinks that having lots of older individuals and seasonal residents is somehow a bad thing. And they think that having non-dense, high value housing is bad as well.

The town should embrace the demographics rather than fight it. Senior citizens are the fastest growing demographic in the country. They can afford to pay above-average prices for housing. If Fountain Hills wants to grow, it should convince more older people to move here.

Instead, the Town Council and the SPAC just seem to want denser housing, more industrialization and, presumably, lower housing values so the town can appeal more to younger people. I suspect the ulterior motive here is to get younger, more liberal voters that will support whatever spending that the town government decides to do in the future.

I like Fountain Hills the way it is, and I wish we had a Strategic Planning Advisory Commission and Town Council that felt the same way.
