Three members of a Fountain Hills family were arrested following an altercation with a Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputy Wednesday, May 7.

The deputy was attempting to locate and arrest a 43-year-old man in connection with a previous criminal damage domestic violence incident.

The suspect was located outside his parents’ home in the 14000 block of Cholula Drive.

The suspect resisted the deputy’s attempt to take him into custody, according to the MCSO report. The suspect’s 75-year-old father got involved and told the deputy to leave the property, grabbing and pushing the deputy. He told the deputy to leave if he did not have a warrant.

When the deputy attempted to take the father into custody his 73-year-old wife attempted to intervene.

The son faces charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. Both parents face charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and hindering prosecution.

The deputy, as well as all three suspects, sustained minor injuries during the fight, and all declined medical evaluation by the fire department paramedics. However, the deputy was later taken to the hospital for evaluation of a knee injury.
