Dialogue

Some people are afraid. Some people in Fountain Hills are afraid. When we are afraid, we hold on desperately to those ideas/institutions that have long offered us some measure of security. Marriage is one of those ideas/institutions.

The new reality is the security of the idea/institution of marriage has been extended to a whole group of people, people who have long lived in a perpetual state of insecurity, even of being afraid.

So we have a group of people experiencing a new state of anxiety, of being afraid, because of this change. And we have another group of people discovering open doors to a new sense of security.

What a marvelous time for a new dialogue! What a marvelous time for learning more about how we all experience security and insecurity, of being afraid and being unafraid.

What a neat time to embrace both the grief and the joy of significant change in our culture... together.
