Mayoral candidate Ginny Dickey’s lead over opponent Cecil Yates stretched by about 50 additional votes today, as the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office has reported updated figures pertaining to local elections.
A fresh tally rolled out at about 5 p.m. Thursday evening, Aug. 30, showing Ginny Dickey with 3,399 votes compared to Cecil Yates’ 3,043 in the race for Fountain Hills mayor; a difference of 356 votes. Votes for town council seats saw the three leaders holding strong with Mike Scharnow claiming 3,305 votes, David Spelich claiming 3,132 and Alan Magazine claiming 2,992.
These results are still listed as unofficial, though it appears the Recorder’s Office is closing in on final numbers. Fountain Hills’ typical turnout for council elections is around 7,000 voters, and the current count is over 6,700.
