OPINION – Ronald Mills’ comments to the editor comparing Charlie Kirk to Martin Luther King is not only absurd, it's insulting to the memory and work of Martin Luther King.
Charlie Kirk made many bigoted and racist comments. He may have done it under the guise of “Christianity,” but even that was disingenuous. Martin Luther King promoted unity and equality for all Americans, not hate and exclusion.
Naming our Community Center after Kirk would be an attempt to highjack a town resource devoted to community and inclusion by a small group of people with extreme views to press forward a message exclusion.
