“Lina, I hope you win. It’s time the council is injected with some new blood and not filled with disconnected intellectuals whose supporters attempt to educate us about ‘red herrings’ and the meaning of figurative expressions.”
As endorsements go, this one for Lina Bellenir may not be very helpful. We are tired of intellectuals so vote for Lina?

This is from a recent Letter to the Editor:
“Lina, I hope you win. It’s time the council is injected with some new blood and not filled with disconnected intellectuals whose supporters attempt to educate us about ‘red herrings’ and the meaning of figurative expressions.”
As endorsements go, this one for Lina Bellenir may not be very helpful. We are tired of intellectuals so vote for Lina?
Several inaccurate statements from the writer about the water rate issue demonstrate that perhaps Lina Bellenir’s supporters are the ones who are “disconnected.” Do they prefer a council member who agrees with them regardless of research and reality, who speaks in ideological sound bites that do not reflect local issues?
Maybe The Times could add a new policy (in addition to no personal attacks, the 300-word and monthly submission limits) that letter writers must cite references to verify assertions made as fact.
