Some time ago a name change was requested for the Avenue of the Fountains. How about Poop Parkway?
At the recent auto and fine art events, the usual knuckleheads had to bring their dogs along. I’m sure the animals enjoyed viewing the cars and the artwork as well as being surrounded by hundreds of strange humans who had to dodge their leashes. Talk about inducing stress on both pets and elderly people. Nothing like some little kid in a stroller getting a face-to-face confrontation with an open-mouthed, drooling, traumatized animal.

These ill-advised dog owners (yes, I own a dog) are the same inconsiderate folks who think their animals need a grass surface to defecate on. Not so! This is the same surface in the park and the recently re-landscaped parkway where citizens like to walk and little kids play and roll on during various events. Some would say, “but I pick up the fecal deposits.” To those that do, and some that don’t, I would ask how do you aspirate the deposited dog urine from the lawns?
I suspect the same mindset prevails in the inconsiderate and uninformed populace that walks its dogs down the various streets and allows them to meander all over private property to do their job. Yes, folks, when that animal supposedly under your control crosses a curb onto the private property of another person, you, the owner, violated at least two Arizona statutes dealing with trespassing and criminal vandalism (if defecation or urination occur). Then there are the law violators that bring non-service animals into restaurants and grocery stores. Why are these violations tolerated in a town which is home to the county sheriff and numerous lawyers?
Be a responsible pet owner and citizen and show a little respect and consideration for your neighbors.
