Donna Lee Hulme

Donna of Fountain Hills, Arizona, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 23, 2024 at the age of 88. Donna was born in Grand Island, Nebraska to Albert and Francis Niedfelt, and was the oldest of four sisters. She graduated from Senior High in Grand Island, Nebraska in 1953. Her first job out of high school was working for the telephone company in Grand Island.
Donna married the love of her life, Leonard Hulme on June 6, 1955.They were blessed with three sons, Tom Hulme, Tim Hulme and Lenny Hulme. In 1976, the family relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona. In November 1980, Donna earned her Certificate for Executive Secretaries and Administrative Assistants from the College of Business Administration at Arizona State University. Her skills and knowledge led her to an executive secretary position with the relief agency Food for the Hungry, a position that allowed her to participate in relief efforts and travel to several countries in Southeast Asia. Subsequently,
Donna worked as an administrative secretary for the family construction business Carume Contracting. In her spare time, Donna enjoyed cooking, gardening, crossword puzzles, and John Wayne movies. Her favorite getaway trips were visiting Old Tucson, Bisbee and Tombstone, Arizona.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, grandson T J Hulme, husband Leonard Hulme, and sister Ila Ryan.
Those left to cherish her memory and gentle spirit include sons Tom Hulme (Sheri); Tim Hulme (Cathy), Lenny Hulme (Kelly), along with her sisters, Elizabeth Gilbert (Gene) and Francie Ballou, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. A celebration of Donna’s life will be held on Friday, August 30th, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Messinger Fountain Hills.
