Don't give up

I didn’t used to believe in miracles, but I do now. In January, we had to have our 10-year-old dachshund put to sleep because of kidney disease. Grieving over this loss, we decided to adopt a rescue dog from Luv of Dogz rescue. She is a small dachshund/chihuahua mix whom we named Fannie.

On March 25, she ran down the street not to be seen again. She had bolted out of the garage accidentally. Four nights and five days passed. We enlisted the aid of Luv of Dogz, whom I cannot praise enough for their efforts in putting out flyers, notifying veterinarians and other likely businesses.

We were fearful of coyotes, rattlesnakes, bobcats, scorpions and the heat causing her to pass on.

On Sunday, at about 2 p.m. I received a phone call saying they had our dog. My wife raced to their address and there was Fannie, a little gaunt but otherwise healthy. People in the neighborhood have been so kind, looking out for our baby. Several prayer chains and individual prayers were answered.

Thanks everyone for their kindness and concern. We plan to spoil her beyond belief and hope to return the favor to someone else. Never give up hope!
