Douglas Swan, 66, of Fountain Hills passed away on May 5, 2018. Doug was born on March 9, 1952 to David Swan and Nancy Loder in Ridgewood, N.J.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan; daughters, Jessica (Alberto), Danielle (Curt) and Erin (Jason); sons, Joshua (Kelli) and Noel (Renee); his brother, Peter (Denise) and sister, Lucinda. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Joseph, Julia, Isaac, Maddux, Keeva, Jacob, Samuel, and Elie. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, David (Sally).

Doug and his childhood sweetheart and lifelong partner, Joan, spent their free time camping in their RV, listening to music, traveling, enjoying their backyard view and taking walks with their loyal dog, Schultz. Doug was an avid runner and bicyclist who loved being active and spending time outdoors.

He will be remembered most for his sense of humor, contagious laugh, love of music, and ability to bring out the best in everyone. Doug loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren, who all loved and adored him. Some of his favorite pastimes were playing the guitar, singing, and enjoying live music with his family. His enthusiastic and adventurous approach to life led to many fun outings, vacations, and get-togethers which included biking, boating, water skiing, and helicopter rides. He enjoyed many “out of this world” meals.

In the footsteps of his father and older brothers, Doug served in the Navy on a nuclear submarine during the early ‘70s. Due to his passion and hard work, Doug achieved great success as an executive in the Oncology Industry and will be remembered lovingly by his colleagues. Doug touched and brightened the life of everyone lucky enough to have met him. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.

The family will be holding a private service. In lieu of flowers, the family has established “The Doug Swan Memorial Fund” for the benefit of their eight grandchildren with zelle.com (please search using noel_swan@hotmail.com) or donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Doug’s name.
