Town of Fountain Hills Economic Development Director Amanda Jacobs received enthusiastic support from the town council as she presented her outline for an updated Downtown Strategy for the community. The council unanimously adopted a resolution to accept the plan.
The council in 2009 adopted a Downtown Development Strategy as the country was coming out of the Great Recession. About a year ago, Jacobs presented the council with a Community Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), which was approved. That plan included the development of an updated plan for the downtown area.
The new downtown plan has been streamlined and development allowed Jacobs to shrink the overall area, and also potential costs. The area defined by the Downtown Strategy is bounded by Saguaro Boulevard including a small section of Fountain Park, El Lago Boulevard on the south and La Montana Drive from El Lago to Saguaro.
