Edward R. Nowaczyk

Edward R. Nowaczyk, 86, of Phoenix passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born on June 16, 1932 in Hammond, Ind. to Edward and Mary Nowaczyk and was the eldest of three children.

Edward graduated from Bishop Noll High School in 1950. He attended Quincy College in Quincy, Ill. from 1950 to 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 where he was stationed in California and Alaska.

Edward married his high school sweetheart, Carol M. Schreiner, on Jan. 15, 1955 in Hammond, Ind. They shared 63 years of marriage and were blessed with eight children. He loved spending quality fun times with them, building wonderful memories. He enjoyed playing card games, especially poker at the casinos.

He was predeceased by his mother, father and brother, Bob. He is survived by his wife, Carol, and his eight children, Debra Richardson (Johnny), Jeff, Lori, Mike, Joe (Vicki), Cathy Spain (Dennis), David and Susie Meyers. In addition, he is survived by 12 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Thomas, Michael, Kim, Kaley, Nick, Aaron, Brian, Kevin, Katy, Taylor, Tyler and by five great-grandchildren. Edward is also survived by his brother, Dennis (Mary Ann), sisters-in-law, Sharon Nowaczyk and Lil Radigan, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He began his sales career as a salesman for West Bend Cookware and then was an AFLAC Insurance Agent for 43 years.

A memorial service will be held at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, 10755 North 124th Street, Scottsdale, AZ, 85259 on Tuesday Nov. 6, 2018 at 10 a.m. with a Celebration of Life following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of the Valley.
