Elda Bertoia passed away on Jan. 16, 2013, at the age of 98. She was born in Bagnarola, Friuli, Italy on July 6, 1914. Her family moved to Toronto, Canada where she met and married her now deceased husband, Settimo. They moved to Phoenix in 1945.
She was an excellent cook, known for her beautiful needlework and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by daughter, Mary Savittieri (Phillip); daughters, Diane Rich and Sandra Bertoia; grandchildren, Terryl Lynne, Allyson, Chris (Susan), Kimberly (J.L.), Jennifer (Jeff) and Chase; step grandchildren, Mike and Carrie Rich; great grand-children Tiffany (Chris), Troy, Franco and Sam; her brother, Bill (Dorothy) and his children, Paul and Diane.
Visitation was Monday, Jan 21, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary followed by a funeral mass at Church of the Ascension, 12615 N. Fountain Hills Blvd.
Burial immediately followed at St Francis Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley or Alzheimer’s Association.
