The Fountain Hills Theater opened Oct. 25 with a comedy thriller called “Sherlock’s Last Case” and will run until Nov. 10. This play was created by an American-born playwright-director, Charles Marowitz, who has become one of the most celebrated figures in modern British theatre.

This has a lot of twists and turns and is very different from all the other Holmes movies and plays we are used to seeing. We are told that Holmes is arrogant, as we know, but that he is also stingy and has a mean streak. But he likes redheads!

For whatever reason, Peter J. Hill had to step in and play Holmes at the 11th hour and does his usual splendid job.

Holmes’ long-time nemesis, Professor Moriarty, is dead, but his off-spring keep popping up to make things interesting. And you guessed it, the daughter is a beautiful redhead…who knew he was a ladies’ man?

Hang in there on this one, just when you think you might have it figured out, you’ll be wrong. Bob Feugate does a great job in directing and the cast is excellent. Go enjoy and try to figure it out.
