Elizabeth O. Meltzer

Posted

Elizabeth Onalee Meltzer went to be with her Heavenly Father Aug. 5, 2016 in Fountain Hills at the age of 70. She was born Elizabeth McIntyre on Oct. 14, 1945 to Ethel (Peters) and Robert McIntyre in Detroit, Mich.

Elizabeth graduated from Detroit Western High School in 1963 and went on to work for Michigan Bell Phone Company.

Affectionately nicknamed Liz or Mickie to her loved ones, Elizabeth fought a brave battle against multiple sclerosis for 36 years. Her determined spirit and unique sense of humor made the best out of challenging days and Elizabeth was convinced pizza and cold beer made everything just a little bit better.

In her younger years, Elizabeth loved to spend time in Miami Beach or northern Michigan with several generations of family boating every day and gathering at night by the campfire. Elizabeth loved dancing and music and could beat just about anyone at trivia games.

She enjoyed the tranquility of Fountain Hills and being able to walk around Fountain Park with her family and dogs, Vegas, Cyrah and Pablo.

She is survived by her children, Gerald (Jenny) and Michelle (Jay Krook) Meltzer; her granddaughter, Lola Belle; her sisters, Jan (Jim) Th’uot, Ethel (Tom) Grima and Kathleen Nowicki; her sister-in-law, Jackie McIntyre, as well as her former spouse, Gerald (Judie) Meltzer.

In addition to her parents, her beloved brother, Robert John McIntyre, precedes Elizabeth in her passing.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the loving caregivers at Fountain View Assisted Living, Anuca and Bob and their staff for their kindness and patience over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the wonderful team at Hospice of the Valley.
