Elks help veterans with housing, pets

Fountain Hills Elks Lodge #2846 members have been busy working with Community Bridges Inc. (CBI).

The organization helps befriend and assist homeless veterans get housing. The working philosophy is to help promote positive relationships with the veterans who live without housing, gain their trust and guide them into a roof over their heads. The approach has been to help them look after their dogs, their best friends.

This summer, 60 portable water bowls were provided as a result of a personal donation to the club in the name of Roger Wade, a long-time member who passed away in the summer.

Elks help veterans with housing, pets

Fountain Hills Elks Lodge #2846 members have been busy working with Community Bridges Inc. (CBI).

The organization helps befriend and assist homeless veterans get housing. The working philosophy is to help promote positive relationships with the veterans who live without housing, gain their trust and guide them into a roof over their heads. The approach has been to help them look after their dogs, their best friends.

This summer, 60 portable water bowls were provided as a result of a personal donation to the club in the name of Roger Wade, a long-time member who passed away in the summer.

Additionally 40 sets of dog boots were cut, sewn and distributed to help keep dogs’ feet from burning on the pavement. The gifts were welcomed by the vets and has led many of them to learn more about housing possibilities.
